The session will conclude with a panel discussion between the old and the new.
-
Late Saturday morning, Don Miskell will give a presentation on The Christchurch Rebuild. Don is a Deputy Director of the Christchurch Central Development Unit (CCDU), the development arm of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA). In 2012 Don led the international multidisciplinary consortium made up of 15 different specialities which prepared the Blueprint. THE DESIGN OF COLLEGE HOUSE ( By Sir Miles Warren)
March 16, 2019
This youtube interview with Sir Miles Warren capture the essence of the College House design and the stories behind the architecture of one of New Zealand's most beautiful buildings.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxG6oSHvIqA
Sir Miles Warren designed College House. This was one of the first houses of residence at New Zealand's University of Canterbury new site, in 1966. Filmed in 2013, Sir Miles talks about why College House was designed in such a different way from most university halls of residence. Walk with him as he revisits the College and enjoys what he calls Warren and Mahoney's 'best ever room'. College House commissioned alumnus and award winning film maker, Seung-woo Hong, to make this video.
